Singh “Heart” Jaideep Replaces Badr Hari In The K1 Final

With Badr Hari facing serious jail-time, K1 has tapped kickboxing veteran Sing Jaideep as his replacement.

I can’t help but think how disappointing this whole change of events is. Jaideep doesn’t even have a tenth of the star power that Badr possesses.

Yet it might be those very qualities that have made Badr a star, that are also the qualities that cause his constant demons.

People are rarely one perfect package, and while Badr’s ferocity and charisma in the ring are unmatched, its obvious that outside the ring he can’t keep those emotions or feelings in check.

As a result, he has let down himself, K1, his fans who love him so much, and even others like Mike Passenier and Naazim Richardson.

An Examination Into Badr Hari’s Poor Performance Against Anderson Silva

As excited as I was to see Badr Hari’s K1 return, I admit I was a bit shocked to see his physical appearance when he first faced off against Braddock Silva. He looked different, and not only physically, there was a lack of fire in his eyes when he stared down Silva. He looked tired and uninterested. Physique-wise, his body also looked softer than it had in recent memory.

All these fears seemed to be laid to rest, though, when he knocked down Silva emphatically in the first round. But, much to Silva’s credit, he came to show that he could compete on the highest level of kickboxing and refused to stay down. Now, in the second round, is when things started to get interesting.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when it appeared that Badr Hari actually appeared TIRED in only the second round. For a moment, I almost thought that he might be acting, but then I realized that he wasn’t.

Silva definitely won the second round.

In fact, the third round could have been called a draw. Badr Hari was a little lucky that an extra round wasn’t called to decide a winner. With the lack of cardio he had, Silva could’ve pulled out the victory and what an upset that would’ve been!

Badr Hari’s performance has been universally questioned by those who saw it, by experts and fans a like. I, personally, have come up with some reasons behind Badr’s poor performance.

I want to make clear, however, these are ONLY my opinions, and I’m not backing them up with any concrete sources. These are just my thoughts.

1. He took the Silva fight on relatively short notice, and almost all fighters tend to stop training when in between fights.

2. He took Silva way too lightly. Silva has lost to Mourad Bouzidi, Catalin Morasanu, and is considered on the second tier level of kickboxers. On the other hand, Gokhan Saki is considered a top-level kickboxer, so Hari prepared himself appropiately for Saki.

3. Due to him training mostly boxing recently, he hadn’t trained his kickboxing technique as much as he should’ve. Also, his headspace might not be focused on kickboxing the way it should be.

4. And this will be my most controversial reason. PED testing is becoming more and more strict in the USA, where Badr would be fighting at some point if he was a boxer. I can’t help but think that he lessened up on any PED usage he might’ve previously been using, now that he would be fighting in the US. The recent suspension of Alistair Overeem and a laundry-list of boxers and MMA fighters has brought this issue to the forefront recently.

Daniel Ghita Wants To Fight Badr Hari

Daniel Ghita, who looked spectacular at K1 Rising, has spoken about his desire to fight Badr Hari, in a recent interview. He also mentions that opponents are becoming fearful to face him (I believe it!). He claims that Gokhan Saki had been offered the fight with him that Wendell Roche eventually took, but pulled out because Saki wanted more money. This might’ve been a smart move by Gokhan Saki, due to the size difference alone. Saki really needs to move down and stop fighting heavyweights.

And he had these ominous words for Badr Hari:

I will fight him very soon. I wish for this fight enormously. We are at the same level. If you are a champion, you fight other champions. I do not fear him. If i did, i wouldn’t be in this sport.

With Semmy Schilt, Remy Bonjasky, basically retired, Daniel Ghita is the one man who stands in the way of Hari’s K1 glory. He is surely a worthy and well-respected adversary. Hari’s lackluster and cardio-challenged performance against Anderson Braddock Silva also raises some big questions about Hari. Where is Badr’s head at, boxing or kickboxing? Does he have the mental and physical strength to undergo the grueling K1 tournament? He surely needs to become better prepared in his next fight to have a better chance of winning.

Read the full interview below:

The romanian Daniel Ghiţă is passing his best period of his career. At his 31 years recently made, the fighter is getting victory after victory. And not just anyway, but through KO’s. He is considered at the moment one of the best in K-1, next to Badr Hari and Semmy Schilt. Daniel Ghiţă gave an invterview for “PUTEREA” in which he talks about his ascension, about his dream this year, but also about a wish that “torments” him for quite a while.

How do you feel and are you in the best form of your career?
Surely i am in my best form, and the last matches in which i’ve ko’ed all of my adversaries proves it. I’ve made a very good physical training, but also technical.

Did you knew that Wendell Roche (n.r. – last adversary) did not suffer any KO loss until now?
I knew this. This motivated me even more, considering that he fought Saki and Poturak, fighters which couldn’t KO him. I am friends with Roche from trainings, but in the ring i don’t know anybody!

Until Roche, your adversaries had to be Paul Slowinski or Damian Garcia. Do you think they feared you?
Surely. Slowinski accepted the fight initially, but later he stopped answering his phone. The same happened with Garcia. Anyway, it wasn’t beneficially for me to change 3 adversaries in a few days. You prepare a tactic before the fight, for a specific adversary.

You fight on 30th of june with Frederic Sinistra, in his home country, Belgium. How do you see the fight?
Sinistra is a star in Belgium, he even fought with Badr Hari. I hope to not have any problems and finish the fight by KO.

Have you set a personal target, to KO all of your adversaries?
Yes, because i know i can do it currently. I want to KO every single one of my adversaries this year.

We know you offered Gokhan Saki for a 30th of june fight, but he did not accepted.
And so it is. But Saki asked 3 times more money to fight me and the match failed to go through. If you have the heart of a lion, you fight with the best. He feared me, surely.

Any chances to see you fight in SuperKombat?
Most probably not this year, because i have enough fights in K-1. Afterwards, of course i am opened to offers. Let’s see what offer Eduard Irimia will make. From my point of view, it’s no problem. He wants me to fight in SuperKombat.

So, should we understand that you miss Romania?
Of course, i am romanian and i miss my people. For four years, i am mostly out of the country. I’ve been like a sailor. I want to come and fight in front of romanians. Even now at Madrid there were lots of romanian people. I felt them close and i thank them for this.

Last year you were supposed to fight Badr Hari, the fight was canceled. Are you eager to fight him again?
I will fight him very soon. I wish for this fight enormously. We are at the same level. If you are a champion, you fight other champions. I do not fear him. If i did, i wouldn’t be in this sport.

What do you want out of this year, what is your biggest target in K-1?
I want to win the K-1 belt in 2012! To be a romanian year in the K-1 WGP. I wish to bring the K-1 belt in Romania.

And finally, have you seen what happened to Bute?
I haven’t watched the fight, but i saw some images. I am convinced that he wishes for the rematch, hugely, i would do the same if i were him. He is a great fighter, he will motivate himself even more now. I have trust in him that he will be back even stronger! He will prove that this fight was only a 1 time thing.

Good news Badr Hari fans! It appears that the K1 Rising event on May 27th will be available to fans all around the world via the Ustream.com website. The cost is $19.99 and will also have Mirko Cro Cop returning to his K1 roots. This is a good chance for the international audience to support K1, as they are in a crucial rebuilding process of their brand. If you want to see K1 continue to rebuild I would recommend purchasing the broadcast.

Anderson Braddock Silva VS Badr Hari, Who The Frick is Anderson Silva?

First, let me say that I”m glad that Mirko Cro Cop isn’t fighting Badr Hari, because that fight could only end in an ugly knockout loss for Mirko. Thankfully, that fight hasn’t been made, but a new one versus Anderson Braddock Silva has been made. And, no, this is a different Anderson Silva than the one who currently dominates the UFC middleweight division.

I honestly have no idea who this guy is, and when I first saw the name I idiotically became excited, because I thought that Anderson “Spider” Silva had suddenly, magically signed with K1, haha.

Well Anderson Braddock Silva is a Brazilian who seems like a good, but not great kickboxer. He knocked out Stefan Leko (who hasn’t?) and he lost twice to Mourad Bouzidi. Bouzidi, if you remember, lost brutally via knockout to Badr Hari.

Silva seems to have a soft body and a decent headkick, but obviously he will be an easy win for Badr Hari, who will no doubt advance on May 27th when they fight.

Below is a video of Anderson Silva looking good against sub-par competition. On a side-note Badr Hari claims that he will continue pursuing his boxing career. I’m not so sure about that. I will write another post about my thoughts on that within the next couple of days. For now, enjoy the video! One of the commentators sounds like a leprechaun when he gets excited!

Mirko Cro Cop VS Badr Hari Announced For K1 Final Sixteen In Madrid in May

Mirko Cro Cop VS Badr Hari will happen in May in Madrid as the first qualifier round for the K1 Grand Prix. And this fight makes me sad, not because Badr Hari is returning to kickboxing, but because K1 is sending Mirko Cro Crop to the slaughterhouse by putting him against Badr Hari.

If Badr can demolish a prime Gokhan Saki, who reportedly trained incredibly hard for his loss to Badr, imagine what he can do to a badly faded Mirko Cro Cop. At his peak, Mirko’s high kick was the stuff of legends, but when was the last time Mirko has knocked anyone out, much less with his high-kick? He has since lost to Gabriel Gonzaga, Cheick Kongo, and Roy Nelson – men who didn’t even belong in the same ring with him at one point. And now to pit him against perhaps the deadliest kickboxer in the world is ludicrous.

While I have tremendous respect for Cro Cop, this fight will neither be competitive or entertaining, just sad to watch Cro Cop get stopped in the first round. This fight proves nothing for Badr Hari, and I wish it had never been made.

Breaking News, Badr Hari Returning To K1, Staying in Kickboxing After All

Well Badr Hari’s supposed transition to boxing turned out to be anti-climatic to say the least. After fighting an emotional farewell fight with Gokhan Saki, Badr Hari made all the moves to appear like he was serious about boxing. He traveled to New York right away, met with Naazim Richardson, spoke about his big plans for the future.

Well, so much for the big plans. To say I’m a bit nonplussed, a bit befuddled, and yes – I admit – a bit irritated with Badr Hari for pulling this about face would be true.

The recently reformed K1 will be holding an event in the next couple months and they’ve been teasing a BIG surprise, well their big surprise turned out to be Badr Hari. I’ll give credit to the new K1, they pulled out all the stops. I bet they wined and dined Badr Hari 24/7 to get him to come back.

Well it worked.

While this site was initially created to chronicle what I considered Badr Hari’s fascinating and brave transition to boxing, I will still continue to cover all of Badr Hari’s career. I have enjoyed becoming connected with all of Badr Hari’s wonderful fans around the world, and I want to continue for this site to be a comprehensive resource for anyone interested in Badr Hari.

And, now let’s be realistic, Badr Haris is twenty-seven years old. If he is ever to become a legit boxer, now would be the time. He was a kickboxer, and now he will stay a kickboxer for the rest of his life.

I’m curious, what are your thoughts? Please comment. Did Badr Hari make the right choice by returning to K1?
