Kickboxing goes on with or without Badr Hari.
The Final 16 for the K1 Grand Prix has just been announced. Glory is holding another heavyweight event, with many legendary names: Semmy Schilt, Remy Bonjasky, Peter Aerts… and NO Badr Hari.
It sounds like kickboxing returning to glory days of old, but without its one grand jewel: Badr Hari. And what a shame that someone as talented and young as Badr Hari should be wasting his prime years involved in petty, but violent crimes outside the ring.
Besides the crimes, he got involved in a sordid and tasteless affair with plastic surgery addict Estelle Gullit, and never even started a boxing career that he had long aspired to have.
Unless Badr Hari’s life changes in some major ways in the next few years, it’s hard not to remember his career as a cautionary tale about wasted talent.
